The talented Mums behind the brands you love

Kids fashion is trending right now and we have tiny tots like #princesscharlotte, #harperbeckham and #kingstonrossdale to thank for that. With over 12 million people using the hashtag #kidsfashion, we can expect to find some amazing mums (and dads) working hard to design, create and sell kid-friendly clothes that strike gold.

Here at Prairie Fox, we are witnessing an explosion of new brands hitting the market place. It’s obvious that parents don’t want to dress their children in the latest Disney character anymore! There is a real desire to find clothing that is less mainstream, gender neutral and almost minimal.

Younger parents are also conscious of whom they are buying from and what they are buying. There is a real interest in organic cotton, supporting local manufacturing, ethical trade practice and fair wages. The younger generation are also being educated to #buysmall - a great initiative to buy from small businesses so they don’t lose out to the big store copycats.

At Prairie Fox, we are so proud that most of our brands are owned and operated by working mums. These AMAZING women have all seen a gap in the market and have decided to get creative and go fill that gap with their gorgeous pieces.
Take a look at some of the high quality brands we stock. It’s hard to not be inspired by the drive and ambition of these hard working mums!

Famous for their rompers and peplum tops, the very talented Emma from Brisbane is the genius behind the timeless and classic pieces that embodies Two Darlings. Emma is a mum of two kids and caught the sewing bug when pregnant with her little girl. Her collections are almost a guarantee sell-out with her cult like following on social media.

Started by Aussie Corine in 2015, this brand sells fabric headbands and topknots for babies and toddlers. Inspired by her two girls, her style and use of subtle colours compliment any outfit.

Chi Khi is famous for their on-trend monochrome bamboo cotton pieces. Designed by actor/singer/presenter Natalie Bassingthwaighte, the urban unisex collection is jam-packed with attitude and made to last. Each garment is adjustable and made with extra length for growing kids.

This footwear brand creates cute shoes for tiny tots. Creative mumma Alana is based in Melbourne with her two kiddies and designs comfortable and affordable leather and suede shoes. The leopard print is a real winner with customers.

What’s not to love about this brand? Owner Bianca lives in New Zealand with her 4 children and produces organic babywear garments and bedding. Only GOTS certified organic cotton or 100% Merino wool are used in Le Edit’s modern and unisex pieces.

Owner Kelli wanted her brand Anarkid to stand for something. Kelli uses the highest quality certified organic cotton in the world. Her brand focuses just as much on how the garment is produced as well as how it looks.

Acorn’s speciality is hats, scarves and mittens. The owner Fiona, uses high quality yarn and fabrics, from 100% Australian Merino to soft pure cotton. She believes products should be made to last and in ethics in business; she is passionate about fair-trade and selling a product that has brought benefit along the whole supply chain. Acorn support a women's collective that have been hand-knitting most of their winter products since they started.

We hope your search for the coolest and cutest kids gear has ended here. Prairie Fox are always on the look out for new brands to stock and showcase. Do you know of a brand we should be stocking? Let us know.
